Woodshop Mike
Mike's passion for woodworking began in high school when he took on an apprenticeship with a local luthier for class credits. There he learned the craft of building guitars by hand, developing a deep appreciation for reading grain patterns, meticulous attention to detail, and the timeless value of hand tools. He soon began building his own custom guitars, earned several awards along the way, and discovered a passion that would shape his career.
During college, Mike continued studying luthiery while expanding into other areas of woodworking. With nearly unlimited access to professional woodworking machinery, he honed his skills in furniture making, woodturning, and fine woodworking, building a broad foundation that continues to influence his work today.
In 2013, Mike launched WoodshopMike.com as a way to give back to the woodworking community. What started as a part-time blog has grown into a full-time career creating educational content for woodworkers and makers around the world.
These days, Mike's primary focus is designing and handcrafting custom guitars while documenting the process through in-depth videos and articles. But his passion for building extends far beyond instruments. Whether he's tackling a furniture project, renovating his home, or organizing the shop, he's always looking for better ways to design, build, and share what he learns with others.
When Mike's not in the shop, you'll usually find him editing videos, sketching ideas for the next project, or enjoying an unhealthy amount of chips and salsa.
