Directions

  • Watch the video

Before attempting this project, watch the full youtube video located in Extras to get a better understanding of how to complete the project

  • Create shelf panels

After milling lumber, glue up panels and cut 7 oversized shelf panels

  • Create template

Using MDF, create a template that will be used to copy the shape to all of the individual shelf panels

  • Template out curve on all shelves

After creating the shelf template, use a flush trim bit on the router the copy the exact shape of the curve on to each individual shelf

  • Template out the cutouts

After templating the curves on all shelves, use a pattern bowl bit in the router to transfer the cutouts for the wine bottles onto the shelves. These cutouts should be recessed about ⅛” into the shelf

  • Create corner support

Take two side support pieces and rip a 45 degree angle on them and join together to create the back corner support

  • Shelves to corner support

Using glue and your fastening aid of choice (dominos, dowels, biscuits, pocket hole screws, plugged screws) attach all of the shelves to the corner support. Each shelf should be spaced 5” from one another and the bottom shelf should be 3 ½” from the bottom

  • Attach side supports

Using glue and your fastening aid of choice (dominos, dowels, biscuits, pocket hole screws, plugged screws) attach all of the shelves together with both side support pieces. Again, shelf should be spaced 5” from one another and the bottom shelf should be 3 ½” from the bottom

  • Attach base support

To increase the stability of the wine rack, place the base support underneath the bottom shelf
