Need a place to store all your cool sunglasses but don’t want them to get scratched or lost? Build this modern sunglasses holder and hang it by the door for easy access!

Difficulty easy

Materials

Wood Products

  • 1 Hardwood board , 3/4" x 2 1/2" x 48

Hardware & Supplies

  • 6 1 1/4" pocket hole screws
  • 1 Wood glue
  • 1 Wood oil
  • 1 Bungee Cord
  • 2 Hanging hardware, such as keyhole hangers

Cut List & Parts

  • 3 Boards , 2 1/2" x 16" x 3/4

Directions

  • Drill pocket holes

    - On two Boards, drill three pocket holes along one long edge.
    - Drill the holes in the middle and 2" in from each end.

  • Attach boards

    - Using wood glue and pocket hole screws, attach one Board with pocket holes into the one that doesn’t have holes.
    - Repeat for the other Board into the other side of the middle Board.

  • Round corners

    - Using the Kreg Corner Routing Guide to route curved corners.
    - You can use any size chamfer depending on the look you want. I used 1 1/2" for this build.

  • Drill holes

    - Mark a spot 1 1/2" in and 1 1/2" down from the top of the top Board on both the front and back of the piece.
    - Using a 1" Forstner bit, drill a recessed hole on the back of the board about halfway through the wood in each marked position.
    - Then, flip the board over and use a 1/4" drill bit and drill through the board in the marked positions.

  • Stain or oil

    - Sand the piece down with a high grit sandpaper.
    - Apply your favorite oil or stain to the wood and let dry.

  • Add bungee

    - Insert the end of the bungee cord into the 1/4" hole on one side and tie it tight on the back so that the knot is in the recessed larger hole on the back.
    - Pull the bungee across and into the other hole so it is tight.
    - Tie off a second knot on the back so it fits into the other recessed hole.

  • Hang

    - Add mounting hardware to the back of the sunglasses holder (I used keyhole hangers).
    - Add nails or screws into the wall and hang the board up.
    - Slide one arm of your sunglasses behind the bungee to hang them up.
