DIY Modern Twin Bed
This easy-to-make diy modern twin bed plan will bring some awesome style to your guest bedroom or kids bedroom.
Directions
-
Cut to length
Cut all pieces to final lengths. I recommend using a stop block on your miter saw to create easy and accurate repeatable cuts.
-
Drill Pocket Holes
Drill two (2) 2 1/2" pocket holes on (7 of the 9) 39" L 2x2 boards & the two (2) 39"L 2x4 boards using your Kreg pocket hole jig.
-
Assemble Footboard
Assemble footboard. Pocket holes on the bottom 2x2 should be facing down and pocket holes on the 2x4 should be facing inside the bed frame to keep holes hidden.
-
Assemble Headboard
Attach bottom rail to two side pieces first with pocket holes facing down. Then line up the footboard with the headboard and mark where middle 2x4 support should line up and then attach. Then attach top rail and each additional rail 1.5" apart from top with pocket holes facing the back.
-
Attached Slat Supports
Attach slat supports to side rails using the 2" spax screws. I used a couple of bed slats to create the correct amount of spacing from the top.
-
Install Bed Frame Hardware
Hardware has a left and right side, so be sure to install proper bracket on each side using screws provided. Link to brackets I used in the Extras tab.
-
Assemble Bed
Attach rails to headboard and then attach to footboard.
-
Install Bed Slats
Lay out bed slats evenly and attach to slat support using 1 1/4" spax wood screws.
