  • 4 1x2 Boards , 6 1/4" long
  • 1 1x10 Board , 18" long
  • 4 3/4" Dowel Rod , 1 1/2" long

Directions

  • Cut Wood

Cut wood to the listed dimensions.

  • Sand

Use a sander or sanding block to sand everything smooth.

  • Drill Pocket Holes

Drill 2 pocket holes at each end of your 6 1/4" long 1x2 boards, and 3 pocket holes along each short end of your 1x10 board.

  • Build Side Pieces

Build your 2 side pieces by attaching 2 of your 6 1/4" long 1x2 boards to 2 of your 10" long 1x2 boards using 1 1/4" pocket hole screws, creating a rectangle. Repeat this step so you have 2 rectangular side pieces.

  • Attach Bottom to Sides

Attach your rectangular side pieces to your 18" long 1x10 board using 1 1/4" pocket hole screws. I attached mine so that my screws would be on the bottom and therefore not visible.

  • Add Feet

Using wood glue and a brad nailer, attach your dowel pieces to the bottom of your bookshelf. I measured 1 inch in from the side edge and 1/2" in from the front/back edge and marked with a pencil before repositioning them to attach.

  • Paint or Stain

Paint or stain your bookshelf. I used a special walnut colored stain for this one.
