Directions

  • Cut Plywood

    I broke my sheet stock down to a more manageable size with a circular saw, then cut the remaining parts on the table saw.

  • Cut Dimension Lumber

    Using a table saw, rip the 5/4 x 6 x 96" into 2" strips.

  • Cutting the Leg components

    Using a Kreg Precision miter gauge, cut the components of the leg.

  • Cutting the Shelf Sides/Dividers

    Using a table saw crosscut sled (80 degrees), cut the 10 degree angles.
    Tip: Mark the location of the angles by dry fitting the shelves and scribing the dividers and sides where the top of the front meets them.

  • Drill Pocket holes

    Drill pocket holes.

    (2 holes) front/inside of Shelf Sides
    (2 holes) both ends of the Shelf Backs
    (3 holes) sides of the Shelf Bottoms
    (4 holes) front of the Shelf Bottoms
    (2 holes) both ends of the Leg Tops

  • Leg Assembly

    Glue and assembly the legs.

  • Shelves Assembly

    Attach the Shelf Sides to the Shelf Fronts, then attach the back to the sides, for the shelves with dividers attach them to the Shelf Front with 18 ga brad nails, then screw the Shelf Back to the Shelf Dividers with #8 FIN/Trim screws.

    Screw the Shelf Bottoms to the Shelf Front and Shelf Sides with 1 1/4 pocket screws and lastly, screw the the bottom to the Shelf Back with #8 FIN/Trim screws.

    TIP: Predrill the holes for the #8 FIN/Trim screws with a 5/64 drill bit to keep the plywood from splitting out.

  • Prep for Finish

    Layout the shelf locations on the legs, then round the edges of the legs using a 1/4" Round-over Router bit. Routee the entire outside edge of the legs. On the inside of the legs route the areas around the shelves.

    Fill the top two holes on the shelf legs with Dowels or with Kreg pocket hole plugs.

  • Finish

    Sand and paint legs.

  • Final Assembly

    Layout the shelf locations on the inside of the legs screw the shelves to the legs using #8 FIN/Trim screws 1 3/8".
