Modern Hall Tree Bench
Update your entryway with this fun modern hall tree. A cool center to hang your coats, pop off your shoes and make your entryway stylish.

Assemble Bench Sides
Attach the 2x2 stretchers to the bench side 2x2s using a Kreg Jig on a 1 1/2" setting, with 2 1/2" pocket hole screws to attach along with wood glue.

Attach Top Bench Stretchers
Begin to assemble the bench together by adding 2x2 stretcher pieces to the top sides of the bench using a Kreg Jig on a 1 1/2" setting, with 2 1/2" pocket hole screws to attach along with wood glue.

Attach Bottom Bench Stretchers
Attach bottom 2x2 stretchers to the assembled bench using a Kreg Jig on a 1 1/2" setting, with 2 1/2" pocket hole screws to attach along with wood glue. There should be a 2.5" space from the bottom of the bench to the stretcher piece.

Add Bottom Bench Shelf
Cut out 2x2 squares on each corner of the bottom shelf and attach to the bench using 1.5" brad nails and wood glue.

Attach Middle Bench Supports
Add the middle 2x2 support pieces to the hall tree bench using a Kreg Jig on a 1 1/2" setting, with 2 1/2" pocket hole screws to attach along with wood glue. Support pieces should sit directly in the middle of the bench.

Assemble Hall Tree Sides
Attach the three 2x2 stretcher pieces to the side of the hall tree using a Kreg Jig on a 1 1/2" setting, with 2 1/2" pocket hole screws to attach along with wood glue.
Repeat Step for other side of the hall tree top.
Note: Be sure that the pocket holes on the top stretcher are facing up and the pocket holes on the bottom two stretchers are pointing down

Attach Hall Tree Sides
Attach the hall tree sides by attaching three 2x2 stretchers using a Kreg Jig on a 1 1/2" setting, with 2 1/2" pocket hole screws to attach along with wood glue.

Attach Middle Post
Attach middle 2x2 to the hall tree using a Kreg Jig on a 1 1/2" setting, with 2 1/2" pocket hole screws to attach along with wood glue. This stretcher piece should go directly in the middle of the hall tree.

Attach Hall Tree Backing
Attach the 1x12 boards to the hall tree using a Kreg Jig on a 3/4" setting, with 1 1/4" pocket hole screws to attach along with wood glue. The 1x12 boards should be flush with the front of the hall tree.

Attach Backing Supports
Attach the last two 2x2 supports to the 1x12 boards using a Kreg Jig on a 3/4" setting, with 1 1/4" pocket hole screws to attach along with wood glue.

Attach Bench Top
Attach the Hall tree bench top using wood glue and brad nails.

Attach Top Hall Tree to Bench
Use a countersink bit to drill holes alongside the bottom 2x2's of the hall tree top and insert 3" wood screws to attach the top of the hall tree to the bottom bench. Fill holes with wood filler or wooden dowels.

Attach Top Shelf
Attach the top 1x8 shelf using brad nails and wood glue.

Attach Middle Shelf
Cut out 2x2 notices in the front of the shelf and remove 1.5" from the back shelf. Attach middle shelf to the hall tree using brad nails and pocket holes. Drill pocket holes underneath to screw into the hall tree bench and brad nail the two sides into the 2x2s.
