Table Top - Cut & Sand Wood
Cut all your wood pieces for the table top and sand each piece to prep for paint

Table Top - Drill Pocket Holes
Using your Kreg Jig set to 3/4", drill pocket holes on the underside of the plywood pieces on all four sides. Also drill pocket holes into all the 20" side rails. The front and back rails will not have pocket holes.

Table Top - Attach Sides
Using your 1 1/4" screws, attach the large piece of plywood to two of the 20" side rails. Make sure to have the pocket holes facing out.

Table Top - Construct Cubby
Using 1 1/4" screws, attach the smaller piece of plywood to the remaining 20" side rails. Make sure to have the pocket holes facing out. You will need to build up under the plywood so that the 'cubby' can be properly aligned. I used a scrap 2x4 and 1x4 to make the side rail line up properly before clamping together.

Table Top - Attach Front & Back
Using your screws in the pocket holes, attach the front and back rails to the cubby.

Table Top - Attach Top to Cubby
Using your screws and pocket holes, attach the table top to the cubby. Align the table top to the end of the front and side rails. Make sure to clamp appropriately.

Legs - Cut & Sand Wood
Cut all your pieces for your table legs. You can make the table shorter or taller by cutting the 24" pieces either shorter or longer. This table fits an average sized first grader (6 year old) as it is marked.

Legs - Drill Pocket Holes
Drill pocket holes in both ends of all of the 18.5" 1x4's.

Legs - Attach Middle Rail
Mark the location of the middle rail for the legs. Mine is 8" from the bottom. Support the 18.5" 1x4 to align vertically at the 8" mark on the 24" boards with scraps (I used a scrap 2x4 and 1x4). Attach the 18.5" board with pocket hole screws to the 24" board.

Legs - Attach Top Hidden Support
Using the pocket hole screws, attach the remaining two 18.5" boards to the top of the 24" legs. The pocket holes can be facing up and remain hidden.

Legs - Attach Legs to Table Top
Slide the legs into the underside of the table top till it is flush with the largest piece of plywood. Using 1 1/4" screws, attach the legs directly to the front and back rails from the underside. One set of legs will be flush with the side of the 'paper gap' rail. The other set of legs will sit 8.5 inches from the other side.

Drill hole for Dowel
Measure 4" from the edge of the table top on the leg. Mark and drill a hole using a 3/4" drill bit. Slide the dowel into the holes.

Finish the Table
Fill all holes, gaps and cracks with wood filler. Sand till smooth. Prime and paint and insert a small roll of paper onto the dowel and feed it through the 'paper gap'.
