Can you use the Straight Edge Guide to cut 45 degree angles across sheet goods?

  • The Straight Edge Guide is meant for straight cuts at 90° from the end or edge. We recommend the Kreg Accu-Cut™ for obtaining angled cuts.

Will the Straight Edge Guide work with my saw?

  • The Straight Edge Guide is intended to work with all circular saws, jigsaws, and most trim routers—with the base plate on the tool. The Straight Edge Guide will work with circular saws with a blade diameter of 5.5″ or greater, and a baseplate that has 1″-5.5″ between the blade/bit and the edge of the tool baseplate.

Will a worm drive saw work with the Straight Edge Guide?

  • The saw base plate rides against the guide’s edge.

Will my saw’s motor interfere with the Straight Edge Guide? How high does the guide sit above the wood being cut?

  • The low profile guide sits only 3/8″ above the wood being cut, this ensures motor clearance.

Does the Straight Edge Guide only work on a  four foot (4 FT) piece of wood or can it clamp to smaller material?

  • The guide comes in two 28″ sections that are paired together. For material under 24″ one section may be used. Additional extensions may be purchased in 24″ sections and added for lengths over four feet (4-ft). The Straight Edge Guide XL comes with two 28″ sections and two 24″

Does the Straight Edge Guide come in one long box?

  • No, The Straight Edge Guide comes in two 28″ sections that can be connected together. The Kreg Straight Edge Guide offers more versatility than other guides on the market because you can customize the guide to the length you need for any project.

Will the Straight Edge Guide work with a Jigsaw

  • A Jigsaw with 1″-5.5″ between the blade and the baseplate edge will work with this guide.

Can the Straight Edge Guide work to make dado cuts with a router?

  • A router with 1″-5.5″ between the blade and the baseplate edge will work with this guide.

Is there any way to attach two Straight Edge Guides end to end to allow for ripping an 8′ sheet of plywood?

  • The Straight Edge Guide is designed for up to 4′ of cutting capacity. You can buy Straight Edge Guide Extensions (KMA4600) in 2′ sections to build up to 8′ of cutting capacity if desired. Additionally, the Straight Edge Guide XL (KMA4700) is designed for up to 8′ of cutting capacity.

Will the Straight Edge Guide work with left- and right-blade saws?

  • Yes, the indicator arms are interchangeable, see the user’s manual for details.

What is the minimum plywood thickness Straight Edge Guides will work with?

  • The Straight Edge Guide clamp was designed for a minimum of 3/4″ material when cutting over a sacrificial sheet of foam. If elevated with the right material support, then 1/2″ and 1/4″-thick materials can be cut.

Does the Straight Edge Guide come with the clamps?

  • A clamp is integrated into the tool itself.

How do the smaller sections of the Straight Edge Guide attach to expand cutting capacity?

  • A set of paired connector bars that use hex set screws and a hex wrench are included with the Straight Edge Guide.

Does the Straight Edge Guide guide have built-in measurement?

  • No, there is no built-in measurement.

Does the Straight Edge Guide provide protection against tearout/splintering?

  • No, splinter protection is not offered on this product. Splintering can be minimized by using a fresh blade designed to cut sheet goods.

Does the Straight Edge Guide require any calibration?

  • Yes, you will need to calibrate the indicator arms to your tool before use.

What do I need to assemble the Straight Edge Guide?

  • You will need to assemble the guide sections with the included connector bars, and calibrate the indicator arms.

Can I cut dados with the Straight Edge Guide?

  • Yes, you can make dado cuts with a trim router if desired.

Will the Kreg® Rip-Cut or Accu-Cut sled work with the Straight Edge Guide?

  • Because the saw rides against the side of the guide, the sleds are not needed for use with the Straight Edge Guide.

Can I use the Straight Edge Guide while making beveled cuts?

  • Because the saw rides against the side of the guide, it will not interfere with the blade, so you can cut with the blade tilted for beveled cuts.

Will the Straight Edge Guide work with the Kreg track saw?

  • The Straight Edge Guide is not recommended for use with the Kreg Plunge Saw (ACS-SAW). That saw is designed for use with the Kreg 62″ Guide Track (ACS430).

 

Crosscut Station

Will the Crosscut Station work for cutting baseboard moldings?

  • Yes. However, this product is not meant for cutting compound angles.

What is the maximum material width for the Crosscut Station?

  • 12″

What is the maximum material thickness for the Crosscut Station? 

  • 1 1/2″

What materials can be cut on the Crosscut Station?

  • You can cut any material that you would consider cutting with a typical circular saw: Hardwood, plywood, MDF, PVC, etc.

What size circular saws can be used with the Crosscut Station?

  • Circular saws that have blades from 6 1/2″ to 7 1/4″ in diameter are compatible with the Crosscut Station.

What is the maximum width that can be cut at 45° on the Crosscut Station?

  • 3 1/2″

What should I set my blade depth to when using the Crosscut Station?

  • Blade depth should be set so that it just cuts into the surface of the MDF base of the Crosscut Station, scoring it slightly. See the Owner’s Manual for details.

What is the best way to cut pieces at 45° to length accurately when using the Crosscut Station?

  • To achieve the best accuracy, we recommend that you cut the workpiece to length first, then cut the angle by setting the fence, and then aligning the corner of the workpiece with the saw kerf.

 

Portable Crosscut

Will the Portable Crosscut work with left- and right-blade saws?

  • Yes, the Portable Crosscut works with left- and right-blade saws.

Can the Portable Crosscut work with a jigsaw?

  • The Portable Crosscut is intended for a circular saw, not for a jigsaw.

What materials can be cut using the Portable Crosscut?

  • Any material that you would consider cutting with a typical circular saw: Hardwood, plywood, MDF, PVC, etc.

Can I cut any angles other than 90° using he the Portable Crosscut?

  • Yes, you can flip the Portable Crosscut over and cut at 45°.

Can this product be used left-handed?

  • The Portable Crosscut must always be held in the left hand, while holding the saw with the right hand.

What is the maximum material width that can be cut using the Portable Crosscut?

  • 8″ at either 45° or 90°.
