Sewing Thread Storage Shelf
A simple DIY Shelf for a sewing room or craft room to hold all your thread. The shelf pin jig is used to perfectly space dowels across the shelves to hold the thread. This could also be used for a jewelry holder.
Directions
-
Cut 1x3 to length
Use a chop/mitre saw to cut to length the 1x3. You can size it however you like. Make the two cuts the same length for the vertical pieces and then cut the top and bottom of the shelf the same width as all your shelves. You can do as many or as few shelves as you like- I could have fit a fourth shelf in.
-
Drill screw holes
Set up your Kreg Jig according to wood size and drill holes in all horizontal pieces.
-
Drill Shelf Pin Holes for dowels
Use your Kreg Shelf Pin Jig to drill holes in your shelves. Use the 1" edge for the guard
-
Assemble the shelf
Assemble your shelf using screws in your predrilled holes. Once the frame is made, attach the shelves with a slight angle for ease of use. You can cut yourself blocking to ensure they're the same size or measure and mark.
-
Fill any screw holes
Fill any screw holes you like- I only filled the bottom ones.
-
Cut dowels to size + glue
Cut dowels to size to insert into the predrilled holes. You can use wood glue to secure these in place.
-
Finish to your preference
Sand and stain or paint... or leave natural. Hang with two nails
